Introduction 介绍
Fashion is one of the aspects that people from different parts of the globe are increasingly relying upon to express not only their culture and backgrounds but also their inner feelings and thoughts. In line with, fashion is not only a critical component that different societies use to express themselves, but it is also a platform on which such societies rely on to define their identity as well as affirm their social class and beliefs among other things. This is affirmed by Macaraeg (2007) who observes that whereas on one hand fashion is concerned with the modern clothing and its accompanying accessing, on the other hand, it focuses on laying a foundation for the society to gain insights on different cultural and symbolic aspects that influences it. This implies that whereas one can perceptive fashion as an aspect that define one’s understanding of and connection to modernity, it is also something that uses different symbolic and cultural context to help people understand not only the ancient societies but also the emerging multicultural societies.

Literature review
There are numerous researchers and scholars who have devoted their research on exploring different aspects of fashion and how this relates to art. Among these researchers and scholars is Dr Sanda Miller, a Senior Lecturer in Media and Visual Arts at Southampton Solent University. In a journal article, Fashion as Art: is fashion art?, Miller (2007) explores the relationship between fashion and art, and whether fashion can be perceived as a form of art. In particular, Miller’s research seeks to address two main aspects regarding this relationship. First, Miller (2007) seeks to provide insights on whether fashion can be perceived as an art. Secondly, the research seeks to address the fashion in itself is an art.
