1.0 Problem Identification and Analysis 问题识别与分析
This report will address the failure of a joint venture company, Titanoya Motors, to effectively utilize scientific management in its manufacturing plant in Thailand leading to inefficiency. The second problem this report will address is poor controlling in this company resulting in its inability to utilize controlling principles to ensure consistent performance.
本报告将解决合资公司 Titanoya Motors 未能在其泰国制造工厂中有效利用科学管理导致效率低下的问题。本报告将解决的第二个问题是该公司的控制不力,导致其无法利用控制原则来确保一致的业绩。
1.1 Failure to use scientific management principles 没有运用科学的管理原则
Scientific management is the approach to management through the analysis and synthesizing of workflows with the aim of improving efficiency (Kanigel, 2005). This management theory has four principles namely the adoption of efficient work methods and standardization of jobs, scientific approach to recruitment of employees, enhanced work environment and incentives to motivate employees, and division of labor and collaboration (Robbins, Bergman & Coulter, 2018). Despite the existence of scientific management approach to managing different processes in organizations, it is clear that the management of Titanoya Motors is not employing this approach in its management processes.

According to Taylor’s employee recruitment principle, for firms to promote effectiveness and efficiency in their operations, they need to find and recruit the best talent, and then enhance this talent further through training (Bagad, 2008). While this is the case, Titanoya Motors lacks an effective system to recruit and train its employees. In other words, this company has been violating Frederick W. Taylor’s with respect to using scientific methods to recruit and train employees on the best and efficient ways to accomplish their tasks. Therefore, if Titanoya Motors does not improve the management of its employees and processes, it is likely to experience deteriorating performance and quality levels, which could lead to the closure of its Thai manufacturing plant.
